Resident Evil Vll takes some big risks whilst some succeed et al. fall through this new person combat the formula wisely remembers that its survival horror adventure and not action that creates the series memorable. With one of the creepiest single settings in a Resident Evil games since the Spencer estate and an enticingly bizarre mystery to unravel it's the most fun I've had with the series in years.
The atmosphere in Resident Evil 7 is the strongest the series has seen in a long time and that's owed entirely to the eerie dovey plantation. This is resident evil within the tradition of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre with all the gruesome imagery dilapidated old shacks and cannibalistic horrors that accompany it. Sometimes that makes for an interesting backdrop especially as you begin to trace the Baker family's descent into savagery and the way it's manifested in their domestic life. Other times it relies too heavily on overplayed horror tropes about rural America and begins to border on the cartoonish. But it never fails to deliver a strong sense of place that makes frequent exploration and backtracking work without wearing out its welcome. The settings only real failing are its puzzles which were disappointingly rare and far too simple.
The Baker families like unstoppable tyrants with unpleasant personalities are among the first enemies you'll encounter and they're by far the most interesting. While that's meant is a compliment to the characters and the unpredictable encounters and boss fights they produce it isn't good news for the rest of Resident Evil 7. Throughout my roughly 10 hour journey just about the only other enemy type I encountered where these creatures called the Molden. While visually repulsive and threatening enough to cause more than a couple of tense combat encounters. They lost their ability to shock me very quickly especially because the scenarios in which you encounter them are also similar. most of Resident Evil's tension comes from finding yourself in tough situations and struggling to adapt since it's all about scavenging for items and conserving what little ammo and resources you do have. I'm happy to see that core Resident Evil idea make a comeback in seven but being forced to change at my survival tactics in the face of new unpredictable enemies and situations would have made the experience a lot scarier.
Despite the shift of first-person Resident Evil 7 feels more like an adventure game than a first-person shooter which is a welcome return to what the series was in the 90s. Thanks to a compelling pace that ensured I always knew what I needed to do next most of my time wandering hallways collecting keys and unlocking secret passageways around the Dolby property felt well spent. Especially as the central mystery unraveled around me with each file and phone call I received. The story does eventually tie into the existing lore in a way that I found rewarding to uncover as a longtime fan. The tangential relationship gives Resident Evil 7 the feeling of a reboot while still allowing it to function comfortably as a sequel. It all culminates in a mostly satisfying conclusion that leaves just enough unanswered questions for a follow-up. There are also so many of exciting and amazing references to classic Resident Evil throughout the game. things like cress doors a weight-based puzzle to obtain the shotgun, themed keys, safe rooms, item boxes and more while it was nice to see many of these things at first they occasionally fell out of place or oversimplified shallow nods to a bygone era rather than a confident continuation of the very elements this series invented.
My Resident Evil 7 experience was almost positive with and without the VR version of the game. There were only a handful of sequences that I felt were designed specifically to take advantage of VR s unique capabilities. But I never felt like I was missing out on anything substantial when playing in 2d. VR makes the Resident Evil experience very different but it is not necessarily the superior option. The one area where VR does improve the gameplay experience is combat because you move your crosshair by looking around VR makes landing headshots on enemies much easier than it is on a gamepad.
Resident Evil Vll grounds itself in elements that made the first great while still indulging during a risky new shift a la mode that both helps and hurts the beloved formula in equal measure. But it's also the closest the numbered sequel has come to Resident Evil slow but thrilling and Atmospheric adventure game roots in a long time, a welcome return that I truly hope to see more of in the future.

Call of Duty's return to World War 2 is amazingly a fast-paced condition on the classic setting. It provides a good campaign, a great new mode multiplayer and a creepier dense version of zombies. However, each part of Call of Duty World War 2 suffers from inconsistencies and minor flaws that hold it back from being a landmark in the series. Still, it's a solid Call of Duty game and I've enjoyed the many hours I've already poured into it.
World War 2 s campaign features a personal feeling but typical war story. It follows Private Daniels through expected pivotal moments like d-day and the liberation of Paris. Over the six-hour campaign I slowly but surely found empathy for Daniels and his squad. I appreciate that tension between characters drove much of the drama instead of some Nazi super villain. Unfortunately some of the big action heavy moments feel at odds with what World War 2 tries to do with its sombre tone. Daniel's isn't the only star of the campaign world war two sets them aside for specialty missions that feature more variety and other interesting characters. They help highlight the work of soldiers and resistance groups other than white American men in World War II. World War 2 weaponry is effective but well warned coming across a rare a rifle with attached bull grenade launcher or shotgun with incendiary shells felt like a treat. Sniping missions on the other hand or not, the sniper cover fire tasks you're assigned are often tedious as are the few stealth missions. Still it felt good to be a little vulnerable without exosuits and drums. I instead got to rely on my teammates for things like enemy call-outs and artillery strikes. Teamwork is a nice substitution for technology.
World war two's multiplayer maybe sent a time without high-tech super weapons will still die fast respond fast and kill fast. It’s as satisfying to cycle as it's always been especially when you do less dying and more killing and the World War 2 setting does provide for interesting new player classes called divisions and a new standout mode. In World War 2 s new multiplayer mode or teams take on three to four hugely fun tasks on either an offensive or defensive team. Excluding Operation Neptune which feels like a far lesser version of the campaign's d-day mission. it's a great addition and I hope we see several new maps for it in the future on the other hand hardpoint mode didn't make a good transition into World War 2. The generally smaller maps mean that spawns and moving hard point spots are at odds with each other which lead to too many opportunities for spawn killing. This thankfully didn't happen much in the other modes.
Many of the 9 basic multiplayer maps feel too similar in design however they're small long mostly feature three lanes and generally favored automatic rifles and SMGs. my favorite of the maps Gustav cannon is one of the few open and large Maps. Pointe du Hoc and flak tower or other maps that specifically make great use of the World War 2 setting. Headquarters an in-game hub much like destiny 2's hour is a great new space to test weapons and generally relax between matches. it's refreshing to see people of all races and at least two genders hanging out in headquarters thanks to world war ii s customization options and i'm sure it would have helped the younger me feel less like an outlier multiplayer. divisions are a whole new level exists 'm on top of the character and weapon levels and they've turned out to be a good addition that helped further tailor loadouts to your individual play style. Every division rank gives you a unique perk in addition to your chosen basic training perk, orders, contracts, random match bonuses and earning rank levels can all reward supply drops or loot crates. While supply drop rewards are mostly cosmetic I did unlock rare weapon skins that have a 10 to 15% soldier rank XP bonus per kill. Though they're also unlockable through other means.
This iteration of the beloved four player co-op zombie’s mode pulls back the sameness of infinite warfare zombies in space land theme park in favor of a much creepier setting and well active characters. Like previous versions naughty zombies is a dense puzzle that's a ton of fun to crack with friends while fighting zombies. It’s a little tenser but with even more upgrade systems and one time used consumables. It can be easier than usual to survive nazi zombies grilling waves of undead as long as you have a team with Mike's. Frantically jumping and wasting bullets while shooting at objectives is not a good way to communicate.
Whether you're crawling through the trenches in the campaign's d-day landing fighting on the competitive battlefields are laughing off gruesome undead soldier’s heads and nazi zombies Call of Duty World War 2 offers a surprisingly fast-paced and fun World War two experience. The campaign have a more personal story while the new war multiplayer mode reduce a number of my frustrations with a generally small multiplayer maps of all the parts though nazi zombies may be a standout with its wonderfully creepy setting and puzzle like tasks. It’s mostly what you'd expect from an excellent Call of Duty game and a mishap for a spot within the lineup of top Call of Duty games.

There are very few games if any quite like Niar automata part hacking Slash, part shoot-'em-up and part RPG. This beautiful multi-genre game delivers 30 plus hours of fantastically fun action, remarkable locations and a story so weird, I'm not likely to forget it anytime soon.
Nier automata takes place in a sad but visually stunning futuristic dystopia where humanity has fled to the moon after an extraterrestrial invasion. Leaving behind a military of androids bots to fight the aliens more primitive but prolific machines. Nier striking art design an enormous sense of scale are mesmerizing to look at especially on the PlayStation 4 Pro and in 1080p. I did encounter a few hiccups that knocked the framerate below 60 frames per second and witnessed a fair share of textures popping in but I was too enchanted with the amazing soundtrack to really even notice. The story that takes place against this melancholy backdrop is somewhat hit or miss. As combat unit to be your job is to fight the alien machines and bring an end to the war. Which results in you slowly unraveling the truth behind the long conflict. How this entertaining if nonsensical story unfolds is bonkers to say the least. But it does so in a mostly good way it's just too bad I felt a disconnect from the utterly humorless to be in her Android counterparts all of whom you get to control at different times throughout the game. Their personal dramas take a little too long to unravel which made it harder to emotionally invest in their fates by the time things got really interesting.
I didn't feel much of a rapport with the heroes but I definitely enjoyed embodying them as I Everett Leslie surfed sand dunes in the desert and shimmied up the concrete remains of office buildings to take in the view. There’s a nice bit of parkouring in automata made enjoyable by silky smooth controls and a compliant camera. These same controls are also what make automata it's hilariously maniacal combat so fun. You can seamlessly and simultaneously use multiple buttons to dodge, jump, shoot and slash your way through hostile bits of rust and iron and steel without having to stop and catch your breath and it feels great.
Though Nier automata is described as an action RPG it's really a kitchen sink kind of affair in between the large chunks of feel-good hack-and-slash you'll launch a fireworks display worth of projectiles at flying enemies shoot-'em-up style do some light hacking and write an animal or two. the ever evolving gameplay makes for a thrilling rollercoaster ride and I mean that literally in one of the craziest action sequences I've played in a long time I actually fought atop a moving roller coaster.
With so many amusing ways to engage alien robots it's important to change your Android schematics quickly and often especially on higher difficulty modes. that's easy thanks to both a flexible customization system that allows you to swap out upgradeable plug-in ships on the fly or use consumable buffs and debuffs when you need a leg up in battle. taking the difficulty up meant raising the possibility of losing valuable items if I fell in battle but if I ever found myself cornered I could always hop online and recruit a is controlling the broken remains of other players to fight alongside me or scavenge them for useful items and if that didn't work. I could use a special move that allowed a character to do things like self-destruct or go berserk. Which doesn't result in death but does severely deplete their health unconventional battle tactics yep but they're sure effective not to mention fun. most of my time was spent hunting down machines gathering materials to upgrade both my weapons and the AI pod that acts as both a guide and a turret gun or looking for interesting story clues in the many side quests. But money-making activities like fishing and hunting are also available and I'm happy to report that the original Niers ridiculous animal riding mechanic complete with drifting capabilities returns. These aren't particularly crucial or deep features but they lend a sense of normality and humanity to a terribly abnormal world and that makes them endearing.
Nier automata may be a crazy, beautiful and highly entertaining journey filled with nutty ideas and awesome gameplay it's going to not include the foremost sensible story or compelling characters but its frenzied combat including beautiful visuals and a shocking soundtrack make it an excessive amount of fun to pass up.

Seeking out new life and new civilizations to shoot and have
sex with Mass Effect Andromeda creatively sidesteps the storytelling limitations
of Mass Effect three's ending. By launching a gaggle of
pioneers into an
entire new galaxy what they find there's a
huge and sometimes exciting action role-playing game that
kept me engaged. But after the outstanding trilogy that created this universe
it's a disappointing following.
There's an immediate sense of mystery as the human colony ship encounters a massive
world ruining space anomaly at a hostile new alien race led by a threatening
villain. But it's bizarre that Bioware went to the trouble of shipping us 2.5
million light-years away to introduce only two new alien races over more than
50 hours of campaign and major side missions and only one local joins your crew.
Andromeda also re-added some major plot ideas from the first trilogy
which includes another long dead civilization that's left highly advanced
technology lying around. The major worlds you explore are almost all distinct
from each other and most are huge granted the majority of that is empty space
and there's a fair amount of repeated structures and enemy encounters populating
them. But they often have unique hazards and tooling around in the Nomad is a
little more interesting than simply holding down the gas button thanks to jump
Jets and a simple gear ship for going up hill. there's a lot of filler in the
form of MMO style fetch and kill quests too, plus scanning uninhabited planets
for resources as TD as a task as it's been in any of the original trilogy but
at least it's over quickly and the spaceflight scenes between them are gorgeous.
Each explorable world is home to alien monoliths that have to be activated to make
the planet hospitable to colonists and whenever you see one you know there's
going to be some puzzle. they don't force you to think outside the box but as
someone who enjoys Sudoku number puzzles I found these to be a nice break from
the action. I could do without the jumping puzzles though.
I'm Ryder the human Pathfinder unlike Shepherd
who could barely step over an ankle hi obstacle the new customizable protagonist
Ryder is fantastically mobile. Just listen to that supremely satisfying jump
jet that bolts you over nearly anything. Combined with the jet dash move it's
easy to get comfortable running out to flank enemies giving combat a much more
energetic pace compared to hunkering down behind cover. I'm still not entirely
comfortable with the automatic over system though I'm never 100% certain it
will work as I expect. This radically different class system is almost
ridiculously open. you're limited to equipping any three of the diverse
selection of abilities at any time but you can swap out your configuration and
even your class profile right in the middle of a fight. That flexibility is
cool but it makes those choices feel more like working around a UI limitation
than a meaningful character decision and it's strange that you can swap out
your powers at will but not the guns in your inventory.
Your crew is a fairly generic band of mass effect humans and aliens. There’s nothing
really wrong with them and most have deep backstories to dive into but none
struck me as memorable stars like Gareth Talley or Morden PB is probably the
best of the cast thanks to her quirky humor and bickering with her fellow asari
Alexi. but the rest seemed to conflict-free to be all that interesting everyone
getting along for the most part is a little bit boring regardless of how flirty
and naked.
They are part of that is because the writing is so inconsistent there are some respectable
quests and excellent morally great questions where both options have compelling
logic and terrible consequences. But also cheesy jokes and stilted conversations
at least the voice acting is almost universally strong enough that I quickly
stopped noticing the subpar human facial animations. On that note Mass Effect
Andromeda is more than a little rough in the technical sense on PlayStation 4
and Xbox one it's prone to major framerate drops and hitches regardless of
what's happening on screen. There’s also very noticeable in distracting texture
pop-in during conversations. The companions are also a bit disappointing in
combat your control over them is limited to two commands stand into place or
attack a thing and you can't pause the action to place them tactically. That’s
just not enough control to reliably coordinator bility combos so you're pretty
much on your own. You can't equip them with gear either. Mass Effect 3 is
wave-based co-op multiplayer mode returns which allows you and three teammates
to make better use of the power combos to take down enemies and reach
objectives quickly. It’s simple but more entertaining than you'd expect and the
rewards it doles out and random card packs keeps things interesting by making
you make the most of the gear you have available.
Mass Effect Andromeda is a fully action role-playing game. It has couple of remarkable moments thourgh out
the game that recapture the high points of the landmark trilogy that came
before it and its energetic combat and fantastic sound effects create a potent sci-fi
atmosphere. But without consistently strong writing or a breakout star in its
cast to carry it through the long hours and empty spaces disappointments like
the lack of new races, major performance problems and no companion
customization and bugs take their toll.

For Honor's combat is the kind I always wanted but never
thought I'd actually get to play. It is a third person action game but it hides
a very complex strategical fighting game in side in it. Mixing team-based and
solo modes all built on the most flexible and technically complete melee
fighting system I have ever experienced.
Above all else for honor lives and dies on it’s fighting an elegant directional
attacking and blocking system that's easy to grasp but demanding to master. You
guard incoming attacks to the right left or top and attempt to retaliate where
there's an opening. It sounds simple right well it isn’t. each of the 12 heroes
divided evenly across three factions of knights, Vikings, samurai have deep
unique moveset that all play out through a complex web of dodges, Terry's,
guard break, counters light and heavy attacks combo chains Saints recovery
unblockable attacks uninterruptible attacks stuns throws environmental kills
and of course grizzly execution. That intricacy is on full display in the 1v1
duel and to v2 brawl mode. But some of the nuance gets lost when you crank it
up to the larger for V for Dominion, elimination and skirmish mode where two teams
battle over control points or just try to murder each other. here the delicate
balance of the combat often gives way too messy brawls and when once he loses a
player there are hard pressed to stop a snowball of multiple enemies beating on
them though. It is possible and honestly exhilarating to overcome three-on-one
battles with skillful use of the revenge mechanic to even the odds. The team
with the greater numbers almost always win and facilitating all this is for
Honor's usually consistent netcode that in my experience only occasionally gives
a noticeable advantage to any one player. While the peer-to-peer structure does
demand host migration when the wrong player drops or I join into a losing game
competent bots step in to fill the shoes of m.i.a players.
For Honor's multiplayer isn't a game to dip in and out of it requires
commitment and a hefty portion of patience to learn each of the heroes and
progressing them into these greatly armor-clad fighters of your dreams takes so
much of your patience because the in-game currency steal is rewarded sparsely
after each completed match. I'll admit to buying a steel packer a shortcut for
some sweet fiery wings on my lob ringer. But there's nothing in for honor that
can't be bought by just spending time grinding. The other side of progression
is hero leveling where experience is slowly earned by completing matches and
the daily and bi-weekly objective contracts. both sides of progression are
stingy but the end result is it's unlikely two heroes will ever look exactly
alike and it's a much needed little tangible reward in a game where the real progression
comes from the intangible progress of getting better with a particular hero.
For Honor's single-player campaign is forgive the building of a double-edged
sword. I enjoyed the opportunity to try out most of the heroes against AI
opponents but I don't see it as worth a second playthrough once finished. On
one side the story is largely nonsensical with characters that are totally
forgettable on the other the gameplay strings together the same walk-on and
fight experience found in multiplayer against mostly docile AI with the
exception to the boss encounters. but the settings but see Gina for riding a
horse scaling the walls shooting a ballista, fighting an elephant or just
taking out armies of soldiers with well-timed abilities helps to mix up the
roughly five to eight hour campaign into an enjoyable distraction from the
multiplayer. There are frustratingly hidden objectives to find within each
mission to pad out the time but the added difficulty levels including the
hardest realistic mode which removes the lock-on HUD adds some small degree of
challenge.
For honor had some roughness in its bright shiny armor like pretty
easy campaign, the prudent economy and therefore the snowballing
victories in team modes but it's hard to be mad at. it too long once
I considered that the melee combat system is second to
none and it
is a joy to find out take
your licks and learn some more. I could feel myself becoming a
far better warrior with this deep, flexible and complete
fighting system the more I play for honor the more I would like to
play for honor and I hope you be soft doubles down on support because it's
truly something special.

Player unknown’s battlegrounds didn't invent the last person
standing formula that's made it one among the
foremost massively successful PC games in history. But
over the course of a 9 month long early access copy it turned it into something

on the battlefield.
The abundance of trees on the forested Island of Erangle
provides many
cover even for groups of 4, while the sparser
rockier desert of Miramar makes moving across open areas on foot and in
vehicles far
more dangerous. Some areas in Miramar feel more isolated
than even the
foremost secluded spots and Erangle. But the
range of elevations and more interesting city layouts
that observe
use of the handy new vaulting system quite structure
for it. many loot in even the
littlest buildings ensures looking
for a weapon isn't a frustrating
task which not only keeps the playing field balanced and fun for

Prey launch I had a game breaking bugs on PC that prevented
me from recommending it. Now that's been patched and so has this review it's
now updated to cover our experiences on all platforms. With a
classy setting built to accommodate classic RPG mechanics
we
do not see often enough in modern games. Pray feels both
new and nostalgic at once a wonderfully explorable science-fiction environment
proves dense with interactive systems intrigue and ever-present danger and
though the combat is only slightly preferable to the weak stealth options. I
was a little surprised at how quickly my time played clock seemed to take up
toward 40 hours before I reached the end.
The first hours of prey are enticing with a mind-bending psychological opening
that foreshadow may
be a story more interesting than what the
most plot finishes up being.
However as I roamed the enormous and fascinatingly anachronistic Space Station
I came across countless small stories. Between emails audio logs and thoughtful
environmental storytelling. Developer arcane did a fantastic job of making this
bizarre place feel lived-in long before I ever met another living human and the
surprising mobility you get made me want to turn over every metaphorical rock.
which is deviance because some of those objects are actually disguised aliens
who will surprise you and try to eat your face those jump scares get old after
a while but they were extremely effective at making me paranoid. When I
encountered survivors at first I was disappointed at the lack of dialogue
options. But then I realized praise approaches more novel you're given a task
such as saving someone or killing them and your actions determine your moral
positions. Do you save a group of people under attack or leave them for dead,
do you kill mind controlled humans or find a way to free them. It’s nice to see
actions speak louder than words when it comes to RPG morality and these choices
were satisfying and somewhat bluntly recognized in the ending.
Prey follows closely in the footsteps of classic first-person RPGs like System Shock
2 and Deus Ex and put some of their best ideas to good use. There’s complex
character development and versatile semi
open-world level design that permits you
to
succeed in objectives by different paths counting
on your strengths. It sends you back and forth across the
same moderately varied zones repeatedly but often you'll have unlocked a new
ability that will let you access new nooks and crannies which keeps them
interesting. All that detail goes a long way to compensate for the fact that
prey isn't the best looking game out there by a long shot. I appreciate that
like in fallout 4 all of the thousands of objects strewn around the map are
useful in some way. Everything even the junk can be thrown in the cartoonish
recycler stations and broken down into resources which you can then turn into
items. So, no matter where you go on the station or even outside in the zero-g
environment you're constantly rewarded just for gathering everything you can
get your hands on like a space water. Inventory management can be a bit of a
pain thanks to a bug that causes common items not automatically stat correctly
but the auto sort button helps.
Its biggest weakness is combat fighting aliens and robots is fine but their AI is
reactive or curious seeming enough to make them fun to mess with. For instance you
would think the ability to turn into any object would let you play hilarious pranks
on enemies. but most of the time the joke falls flat because monsters don't act
confused by moving pieces of garbage they just want to kill it like they do
with everything else and that's about as interesting as stealth gets you can
sneak past enemies and lure them around but not much more this isn't anywhere near
as stealth focused a game as arcane's other series dishonored. I did have fun
messing with the innovative Glu camp but its ability to create staircases is
nowhere near as full of possibility as a portal gun or a gravity gun. Other
weapons are pretty typical so as soon as I got access to powers like mind
control I use it to Jedi mind-trick my way past as much combat as possible. Controls
feel good on mouse and keyboard but with a gamepad the first thing you'll want
to do is turn off the sensitivity. Load times can trend a little on the long
side on consoles though, and we've inconsistently seen some minor input lag on
the ps4 that took some time to get used to and if you're a ps4 pro owner unfortunately
there aren't currently any enhancements in resolution or framerate. It’s 30
frames on consoles and uncapped on PC where it runs beautifully.
Prays curious alternate history universe intriguing side quests hidden threats and
detailed environmental storytelling make this space station a joy to explore. All
of that picks up the slack for combat and stealth that does not feel
fresh enough to sustain it throughout what are often an
extended game.

It really is incredible how well this story works considering how absurd it is one moment it's ultra-serious and delivering a sickening dose of venomous racism abuse and cold-blooded cruelty and yet the next moment it will transition to scenes of laugh out loud comedy now look and then it's back to BJ blaskowitz dealing with his own mortality. Not that we needed another reason to want to overthrow an alternate reality Third Reich who won world war 2 but it's hugely effective in getting the blood boil. Wolfenstein 2 pulls this off without whiplash thanks to the strength of its characters that are outstandingly written and acted. Browsing scenes featuring VJs internal monologue Grace and her determined but sad eyes and super specialist crazy conspiracy theory rants and literal bathroom humor are all great and delivered with convincing confidence. But it is the villain general Engel who takes the show together with her absolutely mirthful sadism whenever she's on screen. She’s far and away the most remarkable Dangerous game villain since Far Cry 3 as Vas flashbacks to Vijay's relationship with his abusive father are also extraordinarily unsettling. It’s the kind of thing that makes a brutal hatchet melee kill feel justified. all of this goes to show that as long as you have characters who feel complex and human you can get away with just about anything.
Wolfenstein 2 is roughly 14 our campaign takes full advantage of that to execute a few wild twists and turns that made my jaw drop. Gruesomely murdering Nazis is already extremely satisfying but it's made even moreso thanks to the fast and smooth first-person shooting action and the rewarding deaths who inflict on your enemies. You’re encouraged to do some light stealth to thin out the herd and silently take down officers before they can summon reinforcements but that's entirely optional. If you'd rather go in guns blazing that works too and like before you earn upgrades just for scoring kills with things like headshots or flame damage encouraging you to mix up your playstyle. wolfenstein 2 makes the most of its somewhat standard feeling weapons by letting you mix match and customized blasting away with a machine gun in each hand feels just as great as before letting you sacrifice accuracy for double the firepower and closer mid-range combat. Dual wielding is additionally handy if you would like to be ready to quickly fire a shotgun blast if you blow your cover and therefore the silenced pistol won't get the work done on its own. My biggest annoyance is that without a late-game upgrade you cannot pause the action to modify weapons which will be a careless process. Unlike the tedious button mashing to pick up every item in the new order. You can grab things by running directly over them in the new Colossus because of BJ's fragility I died quite a bit. Often without knowing exactly what had killed. Me I could have used a kill cam on a gloating enemy so I'd know exactly what to look out for next time. The one problem I constantly had in combat is that BJ's pretty picky about what he'll jump over. I got killed more often than I'd like because I got stuck trying to vault over stuff. Levels are almost all the kind of dreary setting you'd expect from nazi-occupied America. The irradiated remains of New York military facilities and in New Orleans has become a walled-in ghetto are all pretty gloomy but they're dotted with details and readable bits about life in a fascist alternate reality that make exploration worthwhile. It’s the non-combat areas in between that really distinguish them. Walking around a Nazi parade in Roswell New Mexico and listening to SS officers chatting with Ku Klux Klansmen and finding common ground is eerie and chilling and the detail is excellent. The same goes for the submarine that serves as a base for BJ's rebellion which is packed with characters and incidental dialogue. Some of those characters don't look great though.
Wolfenstein 2 the new Colossus is an amazing single-player shooter but what really got me interested were the greatly written characters and the performances of its cast. Vijay and his crew are full of spirit and personality and general angle is as memorable and nemeses as you’re likely to find in games. machinegames has once again turned the well-worn act of mowing down Nazis into something to get excited about.

whose cruelty deserves our fury. The campaign is crammed
with brilliant cutscenes that give the cast a
chance to point out great
emotional range and you'll
hear the sadness and determination in their voices. That
context kept me moving forward through fun missions set in eye catching environments
including the exhilarating penultimate mission. While the final boss was
underwhelming I was left hungry to learn more about the world of destiny. Thankfully
the
superb quests and more elaborate strikes add much
improved boss encounters and an additional dose of
story. The four world maps do a fantastic job of setting the tone too whether
it's the milky waterfalls of necess or the overgrown European dead zone each
offers a colorful and unique palette to explore as you acquire they're
plentiful Luke. Bungie encourages you to take all this in by withholding the
fast-moving sparrow for a little too long in order to force you to walk through
it the first time. Meanwhile a soaring soundtrack packs pulse-pounding missions
before shifting gears to evoke a tinge of sadness.
The first destiny is a strong first-person shooter but subtle touches have made
a big difference in destiny 2 when it comes to making moment-to-moment combat
more explosive and exciting. Popping an enemy shield with the right damage type
or watching the soul of the fallen escape their bodies as you execute a
headshot are welcomed bursts of validation. And where there aren't a ton of
different weapon types the constant gear drops with game-changing exotic weapons
and mods propel your power level higher creating that feeling of growing strength
and readiness to take on all challengers.
The Titan warlock and hunter classes have been simplified relative to destiny
but each still have distinct abilities that work well together with traditional
tank support and dps roles. Figuring out how to use subtle customizations and
weapon pairings to make the most out of your chosen build is still a rewarding
puzzle to solve. The hunter Todd seems underpowered without certain gear though
since the other class’s abilities have a clearer immediate benefit to the team.
The biggest change to balance is the smart adjustment to one-hit kill power
weapons. In the player versus environment or PvE areas the bright purple ammo
packs are in constant supply but in competitive game types it can only be
acquired by one player when the power ammo spawns in on its timer leading to
more explosive moments and fewer cheap deaths. Thankfully the more standard
kinetic and energy weapons feel balanced across the board. Thankfully the
superb quests and more elaborate strikes add much improved boss encounters and a
further dose of story. Moving away from destiny is
one-man army style. That usually works well since many of the pvp maps are well
suited for the new 4 versus 4 teams but if you feel a tad too large. This makes
it easy and strategic to avoid the other team often causing competitive
playlist matches to drag on way too long.
Destiny 2 succeeds in many ways but after around 10 hours of story missions quests
and strike missions a few issues started to annoy me. For example, explanations
of important systems like its odd gear modifiers or how to get your light level
ready for the Leviathan raid are noticeably absent. One of my biggest
annoyances is that you're forced to queue for random strikes or crucible modes
and there's no penalty for dropping out of an activity you didn't want. On the
positive side jumping from planet to planet or mode to mode is snappy and fast
but it can leave non fire team members stranded when three people leave the
crucible at once.
The Leviathan raid and its smaller endgame cousin the nightfall are the premier
PvE events of destiny - and they are designed
to
stay hardcore destiny players like me returning.
The nightfall does this by forcing your three-person fireteam to
formulate a plan going in so you can capitalize on the rotating modifiers. There’s
a lot of skill and strategy that goes into a nightfall strike especially if
you're attempting to complete some of the harder sub quests at the same time making
these challenges highly replayable. destiny twos Leviathan rate continues to
live up to bungees high standards offering new and buried puzzles and
challenging boss battles that require six well-coordinated players to pull off.
On like Destiny's previous raids this one dishes out some interesting story
revelations too. A few bugs forced us and other raid teams to restart several
times and Sully my otherwise amazing experience but Bungie says it's working to
address that issue. With all of these engaging activities there are thirty to
forty hours of great gameplay waiting for you in destiny 2 before even
considering the raid. However, when you approach max light level there are only
a few activities to participate in to get raid ready but if destiny 2 evolves
as well as bungees roadmap promises there's even more on the way.
Destiny 2 expect to find are there but it does deliver the same kind of highly
social gameplay and rewarding loot driven progression that helped the original
keep me hooked for hundreds of hours. The main concerns right now are a few
bugs and lack of event options but I'll definitely be sticking around to see
this big action-packed universe develop over time.

STAR WARS : Battlefront II
Almost since the start Star Wars has been a story of redemption
from darkness. So in an ironic kind of way battlefront 2 may be a better Star
Wars game due to its initial fall to the dark side and subsequent journey back
to the sunshine. After over two years of updates and changes EA and dice have
redeemed this gorgeous shooter and became one among the simplest multiplayer
adaptations of the Star Wars universe so far.
Taking an all battlefront to now have to offer at once is honestly a bit overwhelming.
Setting aside the overly safe short and disappointing single-player story
there's a wealth of wave based cooperative maps and a litany of online
competitive multiplayer modes. Most of them play wonderfully and they all use
that classic Star Wars look and feel on an unrivaled scale. Whether you're
fighting on the ground with a blaster in your hands, cutting down troops with a
lightsaber or dogfighting in space Battlefront 2 is an immensely entertaining ride
through a galaxy far far away. crucially dice absolutely nailed the basics take
the mechanics of firing a blaster feels just a bit chunky as it should with
that signature sound bursting with each shot and even though every weapon
shoots similar looking bolts they all feel extremely distinct out of the box
and can be customized further. What’s great about battlefront 2 is that it lets
you play with all its toys no questions asked. Every character class and
playable hero is available from the start and the tedious unlocking grinds from
launch have been completely removed. Luke, Vader, Boba, Fett, ray you name them
they're all here.
The only things you can buy our cosmetics like new outfits
and emotes so there's no hint of pay to win and play. Alternatively you can
earn these through loot boxes you can't pay for it's a good fair system and thankfully
entirely separate from progression. That makes these boxes exciting to open
because the cosmetics don't come at the cost of character upgrades and unlocks.
As you level up you unlock new ability cards with passive upgrades such as
increased health regeneration speed or a bigger grenade blast radius. They’re
designed as ways to refine your playstyle rather than make you dramatically stronger
and it's a fulfilling system that rewards sticking with the class without
forcing you to. You’ll spend most of your time as battlefronts basic soldier
classes but as you play your own in match points that you can eventually spend
to spawn as a hero. That can seriously turn the tide these iconic characters
are absolute killing machines and when you clash with another hero it's
extremely memorable. The list has been growing since launch and now includes everybody
from obi-wan and his force push to lesser favorites like General Grievous
including his ridiculous saber windmill attack that shreds troopers. Pitting
original trilogy Darth Vader against the prequel trilogy Anakin Skywalker hero
is far more entertaining than it should be.
Battlefront 2's maps feel like a greatest hits election of the entire Star Wars
galaxy from all three movie trilogies plus one offs in the cartoons. The dense
greenery of Kashyyyk is a great contrast to the brown wastelands of Geonosis and
fighting across Cloud City on vestment is a blast. thanks to the piles of
content every mode has an extreme level of map variety and that makes it easy
to fall into that just one more game mentality because you'll see something new
every time for a long while. The catch is that finding a match is hit or miss
depending on the game mode and time of day. It’s not very difficult to queue up
for the main modes like capital supremacy and galactic assault, especially on
ps4 but smaller modes. Like hero showdown and hero star fighters can take a few
minutes of waiting before you can enjoy them. Then there are the even less
popular modes like the capture based jet pack, cargo or blast which is just team
deathmatch. Those are often complete dead zones with no players thankfully
QuickPlay is a reliable fallback that will always drop you in - it's hot but
the limited choice cues can occasionally be disappointing all the same. The
recently added capital supremacy mode is both one of the busiest and one of the
best. It’s similar to the traditional Galactica sauce and then they're both
large-scale battles with 40 players fighting over control points but there are
some big differences. Here is holding control points in the first phase earned
you AI reinforcements and then the winning team boards transport shuttles to
try to take over the other team’s capital ship. If they fail the first phase
starts over it creates an epic tug of war pushing and pulling across space and
the planet's surface the settings in power dynamic are all extremely
reminiscent of both the Clone Wars and the massive battles in dices battlefield
series.
Whether you're fresh to the battlefield or picking your blaster copy after an
extended hiatus Star Wars Battlefront 2 may be a redemption story deserve the
Skywalker saga. It’s an enormous broad beautiful shooter that nails the star
wars' atmosphere almost everywhere. The campaign remains a touch of a snore and
infrequently long queue times and matchmaking and a few of forgettable game
modes give the multiplayer a couple of caveats. But highlights like capital
supremacy make it stand out and therefore the progression system is fair and
rewarding. Overall it is a great package now that is one among the simplest and
most thrilling ways to possess an authentic Star Wars gaming experience.

Getting things done by any means necessary is what Ghost
Recon wildlands is all about. Despite its tactical pedigree as a Tom Clancy
universe game your best laid plans will often go comically awry that's when it
really begins to shine especially in co-op.
Wildlands version of the South American country of Bolivia is massive it includes
more than 20 provinces and each has at least one cartel boss hidden weapons and
more. You can roam the whole map from the get-go and it has jungles mountains
deserts and more. They all look great and impact how you play with varying
amounts of cover and vehicles. Unfortunately vehicles don't control well and
you're forced to spend a ton of time using them to cover all the terrain. Choppers
in particular take a while to break in also it's common for high priority
targets to jump into a vehicle and flee which gets frustrating.
Wildlands main issue is poor mission variety you need to draw the bosses out through
missions which are repetitive combination of blowing things up stealing things
extracting targets or killing the same three kinds of enemies over and over. These
issues might have spelled doom if not for wildlands great sandbox style
unpredictability yes you may be on your 10th extraction mission but they play
out like different action movie scenes. When things don't go as planned the
madness that follows is what saves wildlands.
Weapons come down to personal preference though SMGs and shotguns felt too
limited. The loot lust is there but it's more to satisfy your aesthetic goals
and not because you need better guns and most of the upgrades and wildlands
from weapons to skill trees are incremental. Your sniper scope will sway less
you can run further and so on they are useful but not very alluring. Likewise
the skill trees are disappointingly short by the end I had almost everything
that's fine when you're playing alone and your AI companions are so hands-off
that you need to compensate. However, it's a shame to not have to make any
choices in coordinate and co-op.
Wildlands is definitely best played in co-op however co-op is also harder. I died
way more when playing with real players than I ever did alone. Your AI squad
isn't there to support you they're there to enable you they're wonderful at
handling tasks but have almost zero initiative. They also allow you to use sync
shot to simultaneously take out multiple targets its quick fun and super
powerful. The squad also has moments of clairvoyance while they'll spot enemies
behind walls plus they can also take a lot of punishment and they almost always
revive you when you're down. In coop human players are just as squishy and dumb
as you are sync shot still exists but its manual and trades effectiveness for
skill and fun. Playing with friends also allows you to use multiple vehicles
effectively. Which opens up new options and works to alleviate the repetition
problem I mentioned earlier co-op is also drop-in dropout and it works
seamlessly. There’s no waiting for someone to spawn in no loading no red tape
about what you can or can't do. If someone in your game has a fast travel point
or an unlocked mission it's available to anyone and that progress saves when
you go back and forth between solo and co-op. it's a slick system that keeps
frustration and timee and menus to a minimum.
It took me 42 hours and seventeen thousand bullets to see and do everything and
Ghost Recon wildlands. This huge wide-open shooter continuously lack
in giving the verity in missions and the vehicle physics is not good too but
its amazing sandbox style gameplay and a very smooth and fun to play co-op mode
kept me replaying this game over and over again for more adventure and madness.

You know those elaborate machines that make simple tasks
like striking a match more complicated in an unnecessary but fun way. They’re
called Rube Goldberg machines and Sniper Elite 4 is the shooter version of that.
Rebellion shooter is complex and being patient can feel silly when running an in
shooting often works just fine. However, Sniper Elite 4 isn't just about killing
Nazis it's about dismantling them letting you play puppet master is by far its
best trick before you pull the trigger you might need to consider holding your
breath the pull of gravity and your rifles muzzle velocity and that's just for
the standard difficulty for authentic mode you'll also deal with wind direction
ammo scarcity and more. It sounds cumbersome but it's fun to experiment and
improve within those constraints. You have the tools to go full Dark Knight on
these guys once you're comfortable you can set up satisfying kills like
dominoes. For example, after killing a Nazi officer I set up a trap moved his
body into the open and lured a guard to his death outsmarting the enemy AI in
new and interesting ways didn't get old over 14 hours. There’s a side effect to
such a wealth of options though the difference between difficulty modes is
sharp so your efforts to play smart can feel wasted unless you crank it up. On
normal mode if you blow your cover you can just gonna everyone down and unless
you're bent on playing like a masochist many of sniper Lefors options become a take-it-or-leave-it
affair.
The humdrum World War two stories is spread across eight huge campaign levels and
it packs in tons of variety taking you to a remote island or radar facility and
other locales. Though they were all over an hour long they didn't drag on each
one begins with a few primary objectives Nazis to kill generally and some
secondary tasks like destroying a downed plane. Then it lets you put on your
grown-up fatigues and go leaving the minutiae of how to get the job done up to
you. It prompts you to try new things with mechanics that are unique to each
level. One map has a massive railgun that fires at regular intervals and you can
sync your shots with it to stay hidden. I spent most of my early time in each
mission hiding in foliage tagging everything of note with binoculars. it might
sound menial but it's actually fun when you know your prep work matters and when
you spend so much time just looking around it's great to see new sights. It’s a
shame not as much variety was extended to your weapons themselves with most
firearms the differences between them are too small to notice.
Separately four has a handful of great ways to play alongside a friend and it's
just as flexible as when you're playing solo. Guns blazing works but splitting
up is much more interesting. If you're a part you can take turns making noise
and ping-pong enemies back and forth the lack of rules feels like a challenge
to experiment. My favorite use of coop and Sniper Elite 4 is survival which is
a variant of gears of wars horde mode. Played with up to 4 enemies come at you in
12 waves each more difficult. The action is faster and more focused but it doesn't
sacrifice the experimental nature and if the enemy takes control of your supply
station the pace of the match dynamically changes from holdout defense to
guerrilla warfare offense. Competitive multiplayer is more hit or miss
depending on the modes. Sniper Elite 4 works best when you're dealing with enemies
of habit which human players aren't but the slower longer range warfare mode is
great because it's thrilling to know that even the slightest movement could tip
off your location. Control mode is also a highlight because having a highly contested
objective area keeps the action followed and fast.
Lots of games claim to let you play how you want to play but Sniper Elite fours
missions and mechanics actually delivers. Though, it doesn't always reward your
efforts the way it encourages you to stay mindful experiment and improve is a refreshing
vote of confidence.

Hellblade Senuas Sacrifice uncover sort of a goo-looking,

It’s vivid and liberal use of audio and visual distortion and trickery to
convey the frightening effects of psychosis, hallucinations and delusions are
married with the gameplay elements for an experience that rarely ever grapples over
whether it's a game or story. For example, there's no HUD in hell-blade yet a
course of voices shout panicked advice at senua and terror down. There’s no combat
tutorial there's no objective marker or mini-map. Hell-blade is a game that
you're not supposed to trust because what you see or hear or feel is rarely
truthful and because of that there are moments of terrifying tension that gave
me an amount of anxiety and panic that's borderline uncomfortable. Most of the
game revolves around sin ewis perception of her environment you'll scour each
area lining up beams or trees so the shapes of the world around her take on
significance. As new elements are added these puzzles take on new layers of
depth and meaning and many of those moments are profoundly rewarding when you
uncover something new like a hidden path that can only be seen through a
specific portal. Surprisingly combat and hell-blade is more of a palate
cleanser than a core element. It punctuates a story with wave-based enemies
that block progress until defeated. The simple nature of its design struck me
as obligatory for the sake of interactivity rather than necessary for the
experience but depth in combat eventually reveals itself near the end of the
journey or an enemy variety and difficulty spike and yet like most of hell-blade.
Combat is still a tense experience knowing that dying too many times in or out
of combat will cause your safe to be deleted and you'll be forced to start from
the beginning for real.
Hell-blade is a master class of atmosphere storytelling and the marriage of
mechanical and conceptual design. while there are moments that feel shoehorned
in to remind us that were playing a video game the care and attention ninja
theory have clearly poured into seonhwa and her story are nothing short of
amazing. this is a game everyone should play and I'm thankful for the
opportunity to have lived inside the mind of sin UO however briefly.

From sliding down the side of a pyramid to hunting a target
amidst the madness of a sandstorm to casually walking through beautifully
recreated historical settings like the Library of Alexandria Assassin's Creed
origins is a story full of secrets worthy of Egypt's lost royal protecta vyek
of Silla. It also the series first full-on role-playing game and mixes a
delightful sense of discovery with an addictive leveling system.
I spent 30 hours finishing the main campaign which took me just over half of the
expansive and beautiful map. It’s the biggest and most connected ever in an assassin's
Creed game featuring multiple cities with the own unique cultures, different
gods, politics race, relations and prejudices to uncover. They also distinct in
architecture and environment and that make a significant time commitment one
that's consistently varied and surprising. refreshingly I discovered new areas
organically through the story and free exploration rather than through the
series traditional structure of climbing two viewpoints to have them unveiled
for you the exploration is made even more impressive by the lack of loading
screens with. The exception of some Story cutscenes and if you choose to Fast
travel. While the main story is delightfully mystical on its own origins also
has the strongest mission design in any Assassin's Creed game to back it up.

Of course this being an assassin's Creed game there's a whole lot of parkour
and climbing in origins and it's most seamless than ever. The act of climbing feels
almost as passive as running and while that does remove some of the challenge
that existed in previous games it takes a fair amount of frustration out the
door with it. does definitely renewed challenge in the combat though which has
been significantly rebuilt having to know when to block when to dodge and when
to parry creates a whole lot more floral tension than has existed in previous
games and there's a fair amount of enemy variety. You also have the ability to
lock on to one specific target at a time which only made stealth segments more
precise but swapping between targets unfortunately didn't work reliably while
trolling in a larger group. Then there are weapons which vary in type rarity
and effect as part of a proper loot system. Once I picked them up and learn
their uses I always kept three different bow types handy to swap between and
having those kinds of choices always help with boss fights and tougher enemies.
It’s a constant decision-making process and the combat is much richer for it.
While unlocking new abilities and story missions generally happens at a smooth
pace there's
quite lot of grinding
to be done. for the
foremost part I enjoyed it and there are multiple ways to
figure on leveling up but a few of
times the recommended level for a replacement main
quest mission appeared as several levels above where i used to be once
I first unlocked it. This stimmy progress can be a little
frustrating especially when you have to do some low-level side quests for smaller
awards to level up because you can't find any at your level that said one of my
favorite things to do is infiltrate high level fortresses for me the biggest
appeal of origins is introduction of the level system is in that optional
self-induced challenge.
On the other hand finding a legendary weapon isn't as dramatic as it is in a game
like destiny 2. These legendaries are easy to come by and main story quests and
their effects just aren't that different to regular weapons. Most just boost
your damage so there are no real trades-offs decisions for clothing and mounts
are even easier to make since that purely aesthetic and there are limited
choices unless you've opted to buy more as part of origins microtransaction
system. On the topic of microtransactions maps revealing all of the collectible
locations and most of the outfits and mounts are locked behind helix coins
which you can only buy with real-world money. things like supplies and money
can be purchased too but those easy enough to find in origins is Egypt through
hunting or other fun side activities that it had kind of be a waste to spend
money on them. As for performance I did have some minor issues with
environments pumping in and more bugs in the average Assassin's Creed game but
it should be mentioned that Ubisoft says some additional fixes will come in the
day one patch.
Assassin's Creed origin is a type of game that gives you a deep dive into a
truly stunning realization of ancient Egypt with a rich series of cultures,
genuine characters and much more variety in campaign mission system than ever. The
combat is challenging and thoughtful and there are enough different weapon
types and enough enemy variety to keep you thinking. The RPG elements encourage
challenges of their own and even despite a handful of bugs I desperately want
to keep playing.
